Well-suited

There’s one thing in this world that I’m a sucker for; a man in a suit. Whether it’s a sharp three-piece, pin-stripe, or even a rental wedding tux, nothing compares to a man with some style. Here’s a few men who know how to work it in a suit.

Robert DeNiro in "Casino"
Edward Rooney in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
The infamous Pee-Wee Herman
As much as I loathe him after the finale of "Boardwalk Empire," I've gotta include Nucky Thompson
Gomez Addams
And my personal favorite, the almighty Ryan Gosling in "Crazy, Stupid, Love"

This doesn’t require much text. You just need to know that if I died and went to heaven, this would be the outfit God would present me with at the front gates. Angel wings not shown.

Picture Perfect

I like to take pictures. Lately, though, I've been a bit lazy in that department. However, I've snapped a few pics in my day that I'll eventually get to framing, so here's a few of my favorite ones.

My sister Angie twirlin' (in one of her hand-made dresses)
I've never been one for nature pictures, but I snapped this one at "The Butterfly House" at Epcot

Ms.Hayley Jane, one of Teasetown Correctional Facilities baddest bitches

One of my dear friends on her wedding day

My Grown-up Christmas List

In true holiday spirit, I think it best to do a dedication to all the things I'd love to open up on Christmas morn (or dream about opening).  It amazes me how much my Christmas mornings have changed and evolved in comparison to when I was just a wee little girl with sponge rollers in her hair. We'd all get woken up by mom and dad, wait at the top of the stairs until everyone was there, then race to the tree to see all the goodies Santa brought. It was a "Christmas miracle" that no one broke a leg, arm, or neck running down those stairs while being palmed in the face by the other sibling to get to the tree before the other. I'll be the first to say that if I knew these items would be waiting for me, a fractured rib would be worth it.

"Scram, McFly!"

So I spent a good portion of my evening last night flicking around the boob tube trying to find just one good thing on t.v. I hit the jackpot when I turned on "Back to the Future" at my favorite scene of the movie. Now I don't know about you, but I think George McFly was a studmuffin. Who doesn't love a dorky science-fiction buff? Throughout time I plan on posting some videos of some of my favorite movie clips, and this one definitely makes the cut. Enjoy.

Pastels in the winter ain't no thang.

So I've always been one to throw out the ol' fashion rule book; no white after labor day, "warm" darker clothes in the winter, and so on. No season's going to stand in the way of what I want to wear, damnit, which is why I thought an easter egg yellow top, bright blue pants, and a leopard belt was the perfect ensemble for a 30 degree day in Michigan.

"Sisters do as sisters should..."

Waking up this morning, the first thought that popped into my head was "what will my subject for the blog be today?" As I hit the snooze on my alarm clock, I turned my head and glanced at a picture I have next to my bed of my sisters and I dancing with my dad at a wedding. Boom. Instant topic of discussion. My sisters. I started this whole thing to express  the things I love in life, and the three people who are at the top of that list are them.
Being the baby of the family, I have four older siblings to look up to (I have an amazing brother, as well). I'm often told stories of how I  even used to go to my oldest sister Rosemarie for help over my own mother. I'm a firm believer in "nothing in life is permanent except your family," and I consider myself lucky to be stuck with the one I have for the rest of my life.

Even though I believe I have the best set of sisters out there, here's a list of other ones who I think are pretty admirable, as well.
The Sanderson Sisters from "Hocus Pocus"

Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller from "A League of Their Own"

The Lisbon Sisters of "The Virgin Suicides"

And some personal favorites of mine, The Merrill Sisters.

"Like, we see a picture of this lady, but to this lady, are we just a picture of us? Ever think of that?"

I literally can't handle the amazing-ness that is Antoine Helbert photography. Someone just buy me a house so I can hang these somewhere. Thanks.

Ahoy, readers!

Welcome to day one of my new-found profession : blogging. I decided to hop on board the train to share some of the things I love with you, as well as perfect my writing craft. As of right now I’m majoring in Journalism, but I have to admit that writing stories on school spirit week or the student art show just aren't cutting it.

With this blog, I plan on sharing all the loves of my life: my family, friends, food, arts, movies and more. I don't wish to bore or depress anyone with stories on a struggling economy or fights that break out at Chuckie Cheese's.

A born and bred Detroit girl (who lives in the suburbs), I also plan on showing off the good that this city produces everyday. This town is full of some of the most inspiring, unique, and talented melting pot of people,  such as our infamous “Eat em’ up, Tigers” mascot.

With that much said I do hope you enjoy some of the little things I enjoy.

Sincerely,

Your Living Mannequin
